seasons of countless recreational opportunities to enjoy. A
favorite is the paved Lake Almanor Recreation Hiking & Biking Trail
that meanders along the West Shore of Lake Almanor. The Lake
Almanor Basin is close to some magnificent hiking trails within
Lassen Volcanic National Park, Lassen National Forest and Plumas
National Forest and the nearby Caribou Wilderness Area. Winter
offers skiing,
snowmobiling and snow parks. Summer brings
camping, R.V. parks, swimming in 70 degree plus
lake water, sailing,
water skiing, wake boarding and jet skiing and all personal
watercraft.
You'll find some of the best fishing anywhere for
salmon, bass and trout along streams, creeks, from your boat or
along the shore of one of the many lakes throughout the basin.
The region is first-rate for hunting mule deer and black tail deer,
antelope and black bear. Other wildlife includes raccoons,
chipmunks, squirrels, southern bald eagles,
ducks, geese and ospreys.
Annual precipitation of 34" with the average high temperature during
summer vacation season is 81 degrees. Chester Airport
serves this pristine paradise with a
5,000 ft. paved runway and a
1,000 ft. extension adequate for small jet aircraft.
